Patience is what you need when training an unruly or difficult breed of dog.  It may take a little longer, but they will get it.  Some breeds are people pleasers.  Some breeds just plain have a mind of their own and will listen only when they want to.  Don't give up.  He or she is just as much apart of your family as your spouse or children.  Sometimes you just have to think like a dog.  I know easier said than done.  Well,  that's what we're here for.  Don't forget, we're here to help!  Have a great day.

Have you ever looked at the ingredients on a bag of dog food?  All dog food companies have to list the ingredients from most to least in the formula.  Make sure your food starts with a meat meal.  If it starts with wheat, soy, or corn, then you can bet your feed is made up of mostly that ingredient.  They are the biggest allergens in many dogs.

Be careful of meat byproducts and byproduct meals as well.  These can contain things that aren't digestible and just used as a filler.  Example: chicken feathers.  Be proactive in your dog food as well as your own.  Check the labels.

The sun is out.  It's a beautiful day.  Take your dog for a walk.  They'll love getting out and you'll love the peace.  I'm sure they have gotten restless with all this rain, and a restless dog is a bored and destructive dog.  Go have some fun!

We are sorry to say that we will be shutting down our Service Dog Programs. We will be specializing in Canine Behavior. We will continue to work with our clients who are on the books for Service Dogs but, will not be accepting any more. There are many GREAT Trainers out there that can train service dogs and we would be very happy to recommend some. Sorry for any trouble. If you have any questions please contact us. Thanks!!

Make things easier for you and your groomer and vet.  Touch paws, legs, lips, teeth.  The more you touch your dog the more he understands it's not something to be afraid of.  This makes grooming and vet exams much easier and less stressful on you and your dog.

Remember, a tired dog is a happy dog.  When your fur buddy becomes bored, that's when the destructive behavior starts.  Play time and lots of exercise will help curb those behaviors.  Take your dog out and go play!

  1. Use the (Sit Command). Right after saying no, say sit. This gives your dog something else to do other than the bad thing. I’ve also found it effective to just say sit. Usually when they sit they can no longer do whatever it is you didn’t like.
